Before you start
From checkout to the bank
Example: Alex follows 1 storage bag payment from checkout to a bank account. Where might timing or currency change?
Trace the payment beyond the checkout.
Step 1 · Read
Follow the money in stages
- Eligibility. Check whether the provider supports your business and location before building around it.
- Payout. A customer payment and money arriving in your bank are different events. Keep their records separate.
- Currency. Payment, settlement and bank-account currencies can differ. Find out where conversion would happen.
Step 2 · View
Hold dollars or convert
| Consider | Keep USD | Convert |
|---|---|---|
| Work | Keep settlement and later spending in mind. | Check how and when the provider converts funds. |
| Cost | Holding dollars may avoid an immediate conversion. | Conversion may fit the currency of your expenses. |
| Limit | You still need a suitable supported account. | The available route and conversion charges need checking. |
Keep dollars
Keeping dollars may fit when your next expenses are also in dollars. You still need a supported settlement and bank route.
Convert early
Converting earlier may fit expenses in another currency. Check the provider’s conversion method before comparing the result.
Step 3 · Match
Name each payment stage
Payment
The buyer’s transfer at checkout, before later settlement steps.
Payout
Funds sent by the provider towards your bank account.
Conversion
Changing funds from one currency into another.
A payment plan should show the buyer’s payment, the payout route and any conversion between them.
Official sources
Check the current rules
Official check: confirm eligibility, fees and settlement terms with your payment provider.
Requirements depend on your provider, product and destination.
Step 4 · Try
Keep a payment route
Record the provider, eligibility, settlement currency and receiving account for the storage-bag trial. Keep unverified terms open.

Follow an unpaid question
I have not confirmed that a provider supports my business.
Check eligibility and the channel before enabling payments. This delays checkout setup while avoiding an unsuitable route.
I have a supported route, but cannot explain the payout.
Trace settlement and review the records you will keep. A working checkout alone does not explain when funds reach the bank.
Step 6 · Next
Check before taking orders
Look more closely at eligibility, settlement and currency changes, so a successful checkout does not hide a gap in your payment plan.

Keep this in mind
- Separate customer payment, settlement and currency conversion in a payment plan.
- Keep the evidence and assumptions separate.
- Write the next question before spending more.
